Counseling for Individuals, Couples and Families

About Me:

I am licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences both as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 47524) and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPC 1483). I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.

One of my goals is to make quality counseling services as convenient, accessible and client-friendly as possible.  I meet clients in my office like most therapists.  However, I also offer unique and innovative approaches to delivering services (i.e. In-Home and On-Site Counseling and Walk and Talk Therapy).

My diverse clinical background includes work with adults, adolescents, children, families and groups in outpatient clinic, home-based and school-based settings. I have extensive experience working with adults and adolescents in the treatment of trauma and substance abuse. I also provide clinical supervision to Marriage and Family Therapist Interns for their licensure. I enjoy working with people of all ages, cultures and orientations.

My goal, both literally and figuratively, is to "meet you where you're at," and help you get to where you want to be. I believe my role as a therapist is to empower you to make the changes you are seeking in your and your family's life. I provide a nurturing environment where you can feel safe to explore your concerns and needs.

One could best describe my theoretical approach as being
Integrative. I pull from multiple theoretical orientations to meet the specific needs of each client. Some of the approaches that influence my work include psychodynamic, cognitive (CBT),
humanistic, existential, object relations, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and family systems - just to name a few.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process as opposed to a prescriptive or directive one and believe that you often have the best answers for you and your family – it is just a matter of discovering them. My style can best be described as warm, collaborative, Interactive, thoughtful and non-judgmental.

I also believe our past and current relationships influence our behavior and interactions with others.  We all play a role in our relationships with partners, family members, friends, coworkers, classmates. Our roles and those of others change over time and often old ways of functioning no longer work in new
relationships. Developing healthier thought and behavior patterns can help you feel better about yourself and your relationships.

I enjoy, and have a special interest in, working with older adults, people who have chronic emotional or physical challenges and caregivers. I work collaboratively with family members, physicians, and other care providers to meet my client's needs.
I believe that families play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of family members of all ages.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I was fortunate to have over
20 years of successful business management experience in Silicon Valley. My personal and professional life experiences are assets in that they enable me to connect with a wide range of people from varied backgrounds and work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. These experiences also give me a wealth of knowledge to draw upon in the therapy process.

  • I am a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of CAMFT (SCV-CAMFT).
  • An Associate Member of the Santa Clara Valley Psychological Association (SCCPA),
  • A professional member of the American Society on Aging (ASA)
  • A Preferred Provider for Avenidas Village

I truly love my work and consider it a privilege to be able to make a difference in people’s lives.
